She's outgrown her 12.5" Hotrock, we need 16" wheels methinks. Singlespeed and not a BMX. What would you suggest?

islabikes if you have the cash, they are soooo much better than the rest - lighter, sized for kids, better all round, just a lot more expensive

Not really a lot more expensive. For 16" s/speed you are looking at the CNOC-16 - which comes in at £170. The specialised hotrock 16 is £160, and the ridgeback is £130. (Although you may get these a bit cheaper by shopping around which you wont with Isla). So it is a bit more expensive but a lot better.

Well, that isn't that costly, she'll probably get one very soon then. It's the colour dilemma now as she won't get pink (not sold) so it's probably red.

My daughter really wanted a barbie bike for £100 but I see these coming in at work all the time falling apart. The best bikes I've seen tend to be the Isla Bikes and started looking around second hand but saw them fetching upwards of £100 for a couple of years old. I liked the idea of having both front and rear brakes that this years Cnoc16 comes with and got her one at full RRP when I could have got another make trade. My 3 year old loves it and it's nearly pink, her bestest colour. At least it will be worth something to sell on after she's finished with it.

My daughter has an Ridgeback and my son has an Isla and whilst the Isla is better, if you can find a good price on a Ridgeback second hand, I woulnd't discount it. It is pink though!

All decent kids bikes seem to hold their value well so the total cost over 2 years is pretty low.

I didn't like the rear coaster brake on the Hotrock or the older Isla's as both of mine are now good with both brakes and it the like being able to back pedal when setting off.
