I am now looking at replacing my forks. But what do I get?

I am looking at some XC race style forks; I am looking at the 15mm through axel, a tapered headset, and must be light and stiff and either black or white. I’m looking at spending under £500.

My original forks are Rockshox SID world cup 2009 and weight around 1400g.

I'm in a similar position to you and have been considering a set of Magura Durins too (not sure that they do a tapered steerer version). Given your budget is considerably higher than mine, you might look at whatever DT Swiss are currently offering. I think that they are the most likely options- Im not sure of the benefits of a 15mm axle for racing on most UK races though.

PS- i assume your sids are tapered steerer- if not and you're looking to pass them on, I'm on the hunt for a decent set of XC forks, 2nd hand.

The SID's aren’t tapered but the crown is bent so i can’t sell them on, sorry 🙁 unless you want to try and get a new crown for them. I was planning on changing then even before I noticed the was ban because they are the blue ones and don’t match my bike.

Er... I think I'll pass thanks. Not sure the force needed to bend the crown will have done anything else much good. If Durins are available with a tapered steerer I think they seem like great forks- not just for xc racing. Just a little pricy perhaps.
