I finally settled with the insurer, and have my replacements in hand.

In place of a 2009 Gary Fisher Big Sur, I now have a Genesis Tarn 10, while in place of a 2012 Saracen Urban Studio 74, I have a Rapide RL2 Cyclocross.

This is the Rapide (not my pic):

and this is the Genesis (again, not my pic):

Fantastic. Now you have absolutely no excuse to not come on a ride. Friday? Weekend?

Possibly both, molgrips. How about Friday night MTB and Saturday 'cross?

Let's talk.

Thanks, scotroutes. I was hesitant when my LBS first suggested it, because, as you may remember, I was primarily interested in that Cannondale CAADX 20 that Wheelies carried.

However, the Rapide has the same spec and, iirc, the same geometry, and came in at a few hundred cheaper - which meant I could fit it into the insurance payout budget.

I'm pleased, but I'll only be able to say how much once I have done what I want to to the bikes, and given them a proper go.

We can do cross, not sure where though.

Although I think you mean "adventure" rather than "cross" ๐Ÿ™‚

You'll need to make those plus tyres tubeless for sure.

I am finally convinced, molgrips. I haven't had a chance to play with either bike yet, but it is a priority for me on the Tarn. I may even do it for the cross.

@SaxonRider - have you been out on the Rapide yet? Does it ride as good as it looks?
