Hello,
Can anyone figure out what might be making this strange sound?
I recently installed new pads and rotor. The noise popped up as soon as I rode to bike to properly bed the new pads in. I tried removing them and reinstalling. I can't see anything rubbing. A mechanic on the trails took a look and couldn't find the source either. His guess was that the profile of the new pads was interacting with the holes in the rotor and would eventually disappear. He suggested sanding down the edges, but didn't seem convinced.
I went on a couple rides, and the noise is still there, though I think it only pops up at higher speeds.

Any help is appreciated!
Yep edges of pads clipping the drillings in the discs. You could chamfer the pads if it’s that bothering.
Every vehicle I own does this in some way.
Thank you! Will this go away on its own if I don't?
It sort of will. It gets less intrusive over time. 30s with a file will shut it up pretty quickly. Just needs the leading edge clipping at 45°
I'll give it a shot, thanks again!
