Does anyone know where I can find a simple comparison in the weight between these 3 cranksets? They seem to be approx £57. £99 and £157 on CRC but only the XT one has the weight listed (853g). Is an extra £100 getting me much weight reduction, or longevity etc?

Not sure about weights, but the Hollow Tech design of the SLX and XT does add a fair bit of stiffness to the cranks over the Deore.

j,

XTR M970 Triple 44A 32Ti/C 22A Ex BB 770g (22T = 22g, Al Bolts)
XT M770 Triple 44A 32S/C 22A Ex BB 853g (22T = 22g, Al + Steel Bolts)
SLX M660 Triple 44A 32S/C 22S Ex BB 889g (22T = 40g, Al + Steel Bolts)
SLX M665 Double 36A 22S + BashEx BB 999g (22T = 40g, Al + Steel Bolts)

No data on the Deore, but the above shows how little extra you get for XT over the triple SLX after the alloy granny difference of approx 20 extra grams for steel over alloy.

My money would be on SLX and swap the granny when worn.

Saw a comment recently implying XT 32T is carbon fibre and steel whereas SLX is glass fibre and steel. Cannot veify this, but have seen approx 5 grams weight difference in XT's favour.

also, get them from germany unless you really dont want to. i picked up an slx 10 speed triple for £75 posted the other day. funnily enough the 10 speed was 20 euros cheaper than the 9 speed one. took it out today with everything else being 9 speed and it worked fine.
