(15/07/16)
Much like last weekend Saturday looks a bit wet but Sunday looks glorious (sunshine & 20oC) in the midlands at least. Unfortunately my only cycling plans involve Saturday evening at Cannock with my riding buddy. So it'll be warm, wet n' gritty with pebbles!
How about you?
A wee cross border raid to the lakes, taking in whiteless pike and grisedale pike. Happy days indeed!.
Road ride & cafe stop with the wife tomorrow, mountain bike somewhere Sunday. Contemplating Llandegla for some fast swoopy, jumpy fun and might tag on Worlds End as well if I can work the route out.
Taking the wee chap to a sky ride in Leeds. He should enjoy it. Photos of grinning three year old to follow.
May be lucky and get a spin in the woods tomorrow before work.
I was planning on going out for a road ride this evening but I made the mistake of sitting down on the sofa with a beer. Will go tomorrow morning instead. No mountain biking again for me this weekend ๐
No riding for me till Monday. Out in Italy with Abigale for the EWS in La Thuile. Two days hard practice and then tomorrow and Sunday for the race.
Riding at Kirroughtree on Saturday afternoon, camping Saturday night then riding Dalbeattie and Mabie or something like that on Sunday, see how the legs feel.
Ride London 100 training here too; 80 miles round the Cotswolds tomorrow.
Riding over to Llandegla tomorrow. Camp Just off the Offa's Dyke and ride back Sunday. Off road wherever possible. Hurling down with rain in the Dark Peak. Hoping to stay dry in Wales though.
Cannock tomorrow am
FOD Uplift on sunday, first dh session in ages so can't wait.
Might even be dry too
130-140km road ride tomorrow (training for London-Surrey 100 too), taking in Newlands Corner, Leith Hill, Box Hill etc.
Had planned train to mytholmroyd, then mankinholes , cragvale ripponden, rishworth upto m62 bridge and back 40km / 1000m Climb (Calderdale, w yorks)
But I went to pick my other bike and ended up doing 48km and 975m tonight
So see how the legs and the weather is tomorrow
Offf to The Lakes tomorrow planning on starting near Grasmere, Raise Beck, Grisdale Tarn, Patterdale Common, Boredale Hause, Glenridding, Kepple Cove, Helvellyn and finish on Birkside. Cafe stop in Staveley on the way back before a few beers at a BBQ.
Sunday, might sneak out local and early whilst the Mrs sleeps off the booze
Pick up new bike.
First ride on (my own) fat bike will be 15km on a canal.
Dry - Cranham Woods, moist - FoD . Pictures to follow .
Tomorrow morning riding a bike somewhere near Southampton or Winchester. First ride for a couple weeks as swamped with work and family stuff lately. Road or off road will probably depend on the weather.
Tracey
No riding for me till Monday. Out in Italy with Abigale for the EWS in La Thuile. Two days hard practice and then tomorrow and Sunday for the race.
Good luck Abigale! The course was looking pretty darn rad when i was there a week back! The new "natural" black run down to the bottom was the steepest thing i've ever ridden! Hopefully it'll actually get a bit easier when it's ridden a bit more, as it was all off camber and covered in loose loam and gravel........
Local trails today, FoD tomorrow

Driest it's been in months. Trying to get as many rides in as I can before hols starting next week. Better still be dry when we get back in a couple of week!
Just back from Cmbusbarron woods and North Third edge with a few families from Stirling Bike Club. Not only great fun, but added excitement of calling out fire brigade to the smouldering, hot area of forest from summer chumps fire last night. ๐
Just done 31 miles around West Lancs on the Halfords CXer,Tarmac, mud & gravel,in winter boots...

Had a gentle ride over near Sparsholt in Hampshire today. No real idea where I was going so way too much tarmac and not enough distance (only 12 miles) due to sticky brake piston. ๐ฟ
Still any ride is better than no ride and as a gravel bike ride would have been really nice...shame I was on the fs bike. ๐
Just a quick blast at Grizedale. Some of the descents were stream-like, but nice to feel a bit of sun.
the south loop's looking good these days FunkyDunc. ๐ฎ ๐
Ended up doing 146km on the road bike. No pics, sorry.
From home, over to Newlands Corner, then Leith Hill, then Box Hill twice and home again.

Finished putting the new bits (forks, wheels, and bars) onto the Zaskar, so took it on a short cross country style tour over Boxhill, Norbury and Ranmore.... well pleased with it, think it's ready to cover some of the South Downs Way
FoD / Yat today were brilliant. Almost perfect. Here's my mate Matt enjoying a very cheeky trail ๐

Nice angle on that second shot - really good stuff.
20 dry and dusty miles on the Quantocks. Lovely. Knackered. ๐
Sorry, no pics. ๐
Went camping with stevestunts on Friday, with the idea of getting a couple of big mountain rides in, got WAY to pissed to even contemplate it...so got an hour out last night instead. Reet bonny.

Looking Southwest to Black Coombe
20 miler round the local trails around Forres, really muddy, love Morayshire in the summer ๐
This little tacker has only been off his stabilisers for a month..
We had a lush couple of hours on Woodbury Common yesterday morning..
I'm pretty sure that he made a good few weekend warriors on their shiny gnarpoons blush quite deeply inside their full face helmets and MX body armour ๐
What a cracking weekend for weather!
We stayed local instead of Cannock on Saturday night and mixed in some singletrack on our regular loop down to a newly discovered bridleway, gently sloping downhill for a few miles, very nice. We even had time for a pint halfway, ace!
Did Kirroughtree on Saturday, felt very tired. Did Dalbeattie, felt tired but decided being tired wasn't enough so did Mabie in the afternoon. 12 years ago riding all weekend was just what we did. Not now, I can barely stand up and sitting down isn't much fun either. Happy days.
Well the EWS weekend is over. Abigale managed to twist her ankle when she crashed on Fridays stage six practice. Got it strapped up and some pain killers inside her, gave her the option of sitting it out but she wasnt having any of that. It definitely slowed her down but she still finished the race so Im really proud of her. 31 km of punishing stages with 5km of decent. Had the drive over to Aosta today. Next couple of days will be some family riding in Pila before we head a bit further south.
Its also very hot and sunny. Glad We found a campsite with a pool
Stage 6 = proper plummeting stage!
Well done to Abigale for riding on, La Thuile is tough enough where you're not broken!!
Well played to Abigale and family for supporting, really great to hear.
Great ride out in the Peak as part of 18Bikes 10th Birthday celebration - followed by beer and pizza ๐

Great day at the Pila bike park chasing Abigale down the trails. The Pila to Aosta run is full on in the dust, 37 deg at the bottom. Poor Kevin has been eating dust all day. Finished the day off with a swim and now a glass of wine before tea.
