Challenge 1 complete

Thought I'd go for something you may appreciate MTG - downstream from you lot up North they are erecting the flood barriers in Upton, so we went over for a pedal round the fields before they end up submerged.

Upton Bridge

I didn't post this earlier, because it's a bit blurred, but just think, that could be the very same water flowing under Arley footbridge, as I crossed it just before before dawn this morning, as flowed under Upton Bridge as you crossed it a few hours later. ๐Ÿ˜€

Nearly forgot about this until I got back to the hub cafe. I know it's not actually on a bridge, but pretty close ๐Ÿ˜†

This one's more next to a bridge than on it. Proper boggy sticky mud to get to the gate "handle" so I didn't bother ๐Ÿ˜† Almost lost a shoe putting the bike in position.

[img] [/img]

I like this weekend photo challenge idea, its made me get out and ride where I don't normally ride ๐Ÿ™‚

Damn it, wish I'd seen this thread before I went out! Some cracking bridges on here. Lovely stuff! Any ideas for the next challenge? How about trying to get a photo of yourself and bike with some other cyclists that you've never met before? Too much hassle? How about a shot of bike plus some wildlife?

I never see any other riders out other than the roadies who don't say hello, so that one's gonna be hard.

Yes, too difficult really. The wildlife one could be tricky too. OK. What about pictures of monuments?

Wildlife one would be easy, if cows and sheep count ๐Ÿ˜› Monuments/statues is good, so long as they don't have to be famous figures or anything.

Couldn'f face going out and getting stuck in the clay round here today so...

Bridge over the railway, looking at the level crossing i will be using in a minute
[img] [/img]

Looking over the very full dyke towards my house somewhere beyond the trees. That high water level is the reason i was on the road today ๐Ÿ™‚

I could see the pictures of sheep and cows getting a bit numerous and out of hand!
No specifics for monuments.

I could see the forum being inundated with different photo requests come next weekend! All good though, I'll make a list and tick them off as I ride!

I was going to wait until late tonight to set next weeks theme.
How do people want to play this ?
A new thread every week, or let this one run ?
I've already got something planned for next weekend's challenge, but I'm going to run out of ideas one day, so how do we choose who sets the theme ?
I originally planned to set the theme on Friday nights, but some people like to plan their rides further ahead, so would Sunday night be better ?
I started the thread, but I'm happy to let it evolve and take whatever direction it does.

Blimey it's been too long since i was last in the Wyre if they've built a bridge now (can you still ride through?)

Houns, it was too deep to ride today and I'm not sure if it would still be possible if the water was lower.
I know they dug a narrow deep channel with steep sides to contain the brook while the bridge was being built, but I don't know if it was made wider and shallower again afterwards. It's all under too much water to see at the moment.

I reckon a seperate thread for each weekend would be easier to manage.

My view:

- separate thread every week, set on a Sunday night to allow for planning of rides.

- MTG should set the theme as it was his idea originally, and pass it out to the forum when he runs out of ideas.

Yep, agree with Gilo - thread could be titled Weekend photo challenge, dated to avoid any confusion ๐Ÿ˜† . Looking forward to next weeks'. I must admit that although my pics were rubbish, I enjoyed the urban ride and probably wouldn't have gone further than the shops otherwise. Top idea! ๐Ÿ˜€

OK, I'll take this on and start a new thread every Sunday evening.
Feel free to make suggestions for the theme for the following weekend on the previous weeks thread so I don't run out of ideas.
There's been a couple of mentions of monuments, so I'll go with that for next week.

Okay.

It 'bridges' so therefore for the purposes of this thread it is a bridge. Except at all other times when it is a gangplank! Haarrrrr!

Some context and gratuitous shot of a really lovely boat which also has a fantastic bar onboard:
