[#2366024]

Inspired by the Bikes next to a sign thread, how about a challenge to take a themed picture of your bike this weekend.
This idea might take off, or it might flop, but anyway, I'll give it a go this weekend for a start.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to post a picture of your bike on a bridge this weekend.

Interpret that any way you want. Propped up against one of the towers on the Severn Bridge, or riding across a scaffold plank over a ditch in your local woods.
The only rule is that the picture must be taken this weekend, not be one from your archive.

Next weekend there will be a different theme.

Do we need a copy of Saturday or Sundays paper in the picture to prove the date or ya gonna trust us?

Ooooh, going to Cwmcarn Sat morning. There's a couple of bridges there I can get a pic on. Will only be camera phone, but I'll give it a go anyway.

What a great idea!

Sure we could make this a regular thing....
maybe the winner could pick the next challenge and subsequent winner

Grrr, too late Graham - I cycled under the Forth Rail Bridge last night, but I'm taking the SLR in for repair tomorrow. I like the idea of a photo challenge thread. Would be fun to have something similar once a week.

You can just take a pic with your mobile, Pixelmix. If this is going to be a photography-one-upmanship thing then I'm out. I reckon that this should be about taking a good pic even if it's not technically perfect or the best quality - eg anyone with a mobile should be able to take part.

Was planning on resorting to the mobile if I get a chance (I don't have a compact, so it is SLR or mobile), but my phone camera is pretty poor. Wasn't aiming for one-upmanship - my photos aren't particularly great from mobile or the old SLR regardless. ๐Ÿ˜

Pook, that's lush.

defo just about the good pics rather than technically perfect... it is a bike forum after all, not a photo one ๐Ÿ™‚

dammit, you're right! I'm more of a cheat than I even thought.
Still, only posted in the interests of bumping this thread..

I wouldn't have been surprised if I got home and found this thread had fallen flat.
Instead, it's sparked a bit of interest and got a few replies. It would be great if it became a regular feature.
Just to clarify, it's not a competition and there won't be a winner.
Take the picture with whatever camera you've got and post it here.
I've got some ideas for themes for next weekend, but I'm quite happy to step back and let other people take the idea wherever they want.

I think that is the best approach. Voting becomes a pain, and I do enjoy a good old fashioned photo thread.

We don't really have bridges round here but I'll give it a go - I can aim to do both the mtb and road bike!

This is SUCH a great idea! ๐Ÿ˜€

I was so struggling for motivation to get out, but this has given me all I needed. Watch this space.....

Good idea to make it a weekly occurrence too.

I braved the winds to get this ๐Ÿ˜†

If it doesn't rain again tonight I'll try and get an off-road one but I can't remember if the thing I'm thinking of is actually a bridge.

Four bridges on my ride today..

The unrideable planks
[img] [/img]

The urban one
[img] [/img]

The wooden one, where I managed to get the dog still for a second
[img] [/img]

and the motorway bridge. Preferred this shot to the one of my bike though ๐Ÿ™‚
