Mix in some trail centres with natural stuff. May I suggest Golspie and maybe Laggan.

You'll have to ask the Scottish guys on here for advice for an epic, maybe Highlands, Cairngorm.

If you want to do some trail centre riding then you can stick to the Dumfries area if you don't fancy the Highlands and try the 7Stanes centres.. good times to be had there and very popular.. http://www.7stanesmountainbiking.com/Home

If you need some buddies then look at http://www.trailscotland.co.uk forums, lots of friendly folk in the forums..

+1 for Wester Ross, in my opinion it has some of the best MTB and road routes in the UK. The Applecross climb can be made into a great loop. For MTB the torrid on area is amazing. I'm sure if you ask on forums, someone will be willing to join you.
