Hello burgers
Wed night sound good this week for the usual trundle?
Would be good to get more new faces out as well - anyone who wants to come, please come. Don't worry if you are too fast for us. You will be placed on Gate Duty and camera detail. 8)
No gate duty for me this week...working wed eve.
I should be up for this one...
Might have to miss Wednesday as I'm on A-friends riding duty on Tuesday evening. I mean B-friends... B-friends, yes thats what I meant. On Tuesday. A-friends Wednesday.
The Tri Centre have got a thing going on up there on Wednesday, mainly an open water swim event at Harlaw Reservoir, which my better half is doing but there's a bike thing that I was going to tag along with.
Might do this instead. ๐
Should I worry if I'm too slow? ๐
Resin/Dave/Brian - more than welcome
You wont be too slow.
Mark/Colin
Cool! ๐ Where and when?
3 options.
1. Meet at our shoppe at 6pm.
2. Meet at the Old Alfa Garage on Gorgie Road 6.40pm.
3. Meet at Bonaly General Store 7pm.
I'll need to run up to Harlaw first so Bonaly sounds the best option. I'll be needing my lights I take it?
I'll see how my week pans out and try to come along for this.
Resin, we didn't need lights last week but i'd bring them just in case.
Will do.
If I am together, organised and remember to charge my lights I may try to come along. That's a pretty tall order for me though.
I'm on a best endeavor to make it, was going to come last week but bloody work got in the way.
Most likley see you at the Alfa Garage.
Hi, I'm in Kirkcadly, Fife... wouldn't mind coming across to join you for a ride... only ridden in the pentlands once before... would be good to have a change of venue and ride with some new folks...
Lights????
Got a ride and curry planned at mine, if however it fails then I'll be along. I'll bring me camera.
.... What Mustard said... ๐

Lights????
Sundown at 9 and rain forecast. A valid enough question I thought.
Cannae make Wednesday this week - something else to take care of.. Heading up tonight if anyone wants to double-up their hill-time!!
Bump-a-tron.
i'll make it though i'll have a 35 mile each way ride to do in between. Hope you guys wont be leaving me behind??
RDA; even if they did leave you behind you'd still catch them up, pass them laughing on the steepest climb, ride home and still be first to post up on this thread after the ride...
Resin - nae lights needed (apparently).
Looks like I'll be there with a mate. Might be ten or fifteen mins late but I'll catch you up.
You shouldnt need lights. We didnt last week...
are we gonna need a fast group and my normal group? ๐
I used my lights tonight at 9pm. Darker in the woods.
I remembered to charge my lights! So let's see how work goes tomorrow and what the weather's like in the evening...
i'll make it though i'll have a 35 mile each way ride to do in between. Hope you guys wont be leaving me behind??
only joking, wont really make it tomorrow night. I'm working although i do plan to join you 1 of these days
Plus thats insane miles to do on a MTB
I may be fit but i'm not stupid ๐
Batteries are charged, I'm bringin em anyway. ๐
(apologies for minor hijack - TBChain, stoopid question... any chance the steel fork that came off my chrome mtb is still kicking around your basement? doubtful I know, + I should've kept it after swapping, but worth asking...)
Mmm unlikely. We recycle all metals with The Bike Station. Had 2 pick ups minimum since you were in. I will hae a look anyways tomorrow.
Probs with your fancy new ones?
We do have some basic steels in anyway if you need one quick. Cheapish too I think.
Might actually make this one, was going to head down to glentress but won't be making that now. Hmm, Soul is in bits, is 6 inches of travel appropriate for the pentlands or will I be dangerously underbiked for the highly technical terrain?
Probs with your fancy new ones?
Only problem is I am incapable of assessing suitable components for bicycles... Should've just got a new headset for the old fork. But will be good to have the carbon forks to stick on the HT now & again, or maybe the pitch 8)
Might nip down for a perusal of your forkage on Saturday. Ta.
I should make it - see you at the wee shop at 7.
I am hoping to get finished up in time, will be at Alfa garage if i make it.
Cheers
If I make it I'll be at the Alfa garage, the Bonaly shop or somewhere inbetween depending on how together I am.
I'm out in the Pentlands this evening but need to get out earlier - hope to tag along for a bit if I see you all out on the hills.
Sweet...!
Lookin good for an early finish! 8)
I'll see you at the old garage for 18.40.... unless it starts moyin' it doon between now and then.
Thomo.
I'm coming, but not sure i'll make 6 at shop, i'll try and catch up with on WoL path
cheers
Ant
Good ride folks! Sorry for vanishing at the end, I was so annoyed at my rickety plank bridge being knocked down, and so surprised to find the plank on the shore half a mile away, I had to go back and put it up again
Ahh so you were Northwind... nice to meet you at last. We did the whole 'real name' thing at Harlaw - should have got the code names instead.
Great ride people. I am pleasantly tired and looking forward to next week. Might see if we can get an away game somewhere...
Top puncture FAIL goes to Mustard. He knows what he did.
Great spin guys - thanks Mark for the organisation. I missed the "real name" bit - away looking for the remains of a bridge ๐
Big vote here for an "away game" and if it goes ahead I can provide some transport.
top ride out lads! Just hope Tom's missus doesn't kill him when he got back!
Missed it tonight but vow to finally do a bikechain wednesday night Pentland ride. Heading up the Pentlands tommorow morning though. Just out of interest what was your route as maybe going to try heading out the Nine mile burn trail for the first time and looking to do something other than my normal route.
Quality outing chaps.
Feel like an empty tracksuit!
Defo keen for an away game... nae wheels this end tho... ๐
Hopefully see you all again soon.
Thomo.
Lol at empty traksuit.
Nice bowl of cornflakes, half a soreen with EU butter mountain and a brew make the feeling go away. Oh and an ibuprofen chaser too.
How the hell did you lot get home without lights?! it was getting dusky on my way back (and I didn't find my battery at the top of Harbour Hill...).
What a turnout, and did anyone get the numbers of those lovely ladies? ๐
Excellent. Fabby to see the Pentlands so dry and dusty. I missed the chat about the plank bridge though......
The Uglipla could handle a few riders and bikes - especially if I fit the towbar on too.
We passed them your number Kit. They didn't want any of ours-just yours.
How do you do it?
I swear poet's is easier in the dark! ๐
I didn't find my battery at the top of Harbour Hill
I go over the top of H Hill 1 - 2 times a week Kit - will keep eyes open; is it a big, strap-on type that you lost? ๐
I missed the chat about the plank bridge though.
Northwind's plank bridge was on the wikkid awsum (and rad to the max) bit around Harlaw that you refused to ride...
Good ride, though I must work out how to fit my old Lumi light's battery pack onto the Anthem frame. ๐ I'm glad I had my Joystick with me too.
thebikechain - MemberHow do you do it?
robgarrioch - Member...is it a big, strap-on type that you lost?
Rob knows my secret ๐
crikey. how many of you were there last night?
i was in the bonaly car park with a couple of folk and was a bit frightened by the enormous gang that came up the hill..
also, what route did y'all take?
15 all in. We rode the fort singletrack at Clubbiedean, up Maiden's, along past Loganlea and down Black Hill. Very relaxed route, was good in such a big group.
๐ณ
๐ณ
Aye - and so you should feel embarrassed n'aw! (nice skills btw! heh)
So who might be up for some Glentress or something wednesday nightage next week?
I'm up for it, but it will be another best endeavor. Work starts to get a bit hectic at this time of year.
That's if I can get my bike to stop falling apart, and maybe sort those skillzzz! ๐
Had a great night last night, cheers for showing a lone Weegie around your playground, met some top folk too.
Y'all tore me a new one on the climbs mind you. I was like a burst couch when I got back to the g/f's. At least I kept pace on the downs so I don't feel too bad. ๐
I'll make an effort to do it again sometime in the future. Might be up for the GT thing.
Sounds like I missed a gem ๐
I'm up for some GT-age next week. OR DumYat hill. In sunset... oooo suit you sir.
Have motor-wheels for me +2. Also have a fresh new steering rack, so all contributions towards my fit-to-burst credit card gladly accepted for a lift...
I had to work last night ๐ so missed out.
Be up for a spin next week but I don't have a car
I've got a set of wheels so i could go +1 or if I have Mrs AntM's wheels could do +3. I'll see if i'm allowed out to play next wed' night. GT or Gypsy Glen would be good.
Glentress or something
That'd be cool; if I can go, I'll confirm early next week.
Next week sounds good to me! I can carry 2 others (bikes on the roof carriers). Mark - I'm happy to help with organisation if that helps?
I wouldn't get to GT until about quarter to eight on a wed, might be able to get down a bit quicker on a Tues or Thurs if I ask her indoors nicely. No time restraints on a Mon night. I can offer a guided ride round Midlothian on a Wed night, same level of responsibility as that offered by Mark last night, sweet FA ๐
I think Druidh shouted out an invite to his next time as he sped away. Something about a beer for all of us?
Did you see us? Party of 4, with a dog on a lead... ? Great evening for a ride though...
