I'm thinking of travelling from Wigan to watch the Tour De France on Saturday in Hawes / Grassington at one of the hubs. Has anyone got any local information about road closures and parking in the area. All the websites are vague regarding the roads to be closed, most stating that the roads will be closed from 6am, however the hubs only open at 9am and the race only goes past at 2pm. Having watched the tour de france in france, the closures here seem a bit extreme. I can't figure out if all the roads in the area are closed from 6am or just the ones the tour actually goes down. Thanks in advance for any information.
Have spent the last three months travelling round Europe in the motorhome. Came back especially to watch the TDF in Yorkshire. Went up to Holme Moss yesterday with the idea of staying in the car park on top or on the road leading up to radio mast. No chance. Concrete blocks everywhere. Signs in all the lay bys prohibiting parking on Sunday. The Europeans watching on tv will think us Brits can't afford cars.
And Holme moss is closed to traffic from midnight Friday. WTF.

It's mostly just the route, although some roads which lead only onto the route are being shut too. Side roads are mostly OK, but there are parking restrictions on a lot of them.
Im planning on parking near ribble head fri day night and kipping in car then pedal over to hawes Saturday morning
