What a rider!
Those trials bikes look like they might be fun for practising skills, balance etc but I admit that any attempt I make at anything like he does will result in injury.
Anyone had a dabble on a trials bike?

If you films just the injuries you might have a youtube hit too.

Got a 20" one. Great fun.

The Magura brakes are a bit "digital" having no modulation at all but that is what you want really. Get the occasional comment about needing a bike that fits me but I care not.

If I am honest it feels like a BMX with a big rear tyre and low, low gearing. That is whay i bought it really. I wanted a BMX but could not bring myself to get one at my age.

I had a dabble on a bmx (never had one in my youth, just a stormer) and found it heavy and way too small to feel like I was in control. Very tetchy. Trials bikes appear a bit longer so perhaps a bit more stable???

You do realise that those are just snippets within lots of failed attempts and cringing falls?

yes I do. I was not intending to emulate what he does. Just a few wheelies n hops.

In that case, practice/play on your normal mtb, you don't need a special bike for the basics. I don't see the point in buying a completely different bike, learning some basic skills, then having to transfer/relearn them skills onto your completely different geometry mtb. Just sayin like. ๐Ÿ™‚

I don't think dannys bike is what you'd call a 'trials' bike. I have no idea what it is but it looks almost like a dirt frame, it has a saddle for a start. I wouldn't bother getting an out and out trials bike just yet. Practise basics on a hardtail and buy a pogo stick.

I had a 20" monty, now have a 26" saracen thing (currently in bits). They are an awesome workout. After a couple of minutes hopping about you'll be blowing out ya hoop.

Once youve had a go and tried to hop up onto a couple of things, it gives you a fresh perpective on the abilities of Danny et al.

And Danny rides an inspired 24" prototype. (grabbed from inspired bicycles website)

I've been thinking of one too. I don't think a small jump frame has the length of a trials bike though.
