Any recommendations? Needs to be XS with at least 1 zip up pocket for a phone and keys. I have an old Endura primaloft one in size small but its too baggy. Prefer a race fit.

I like my Victory Chimp gilet. Only the front is insulated which works fine for me as I run pretty hot.

I liked the Enduro, zip failed pretty quick though which seems in line with reviews.

Was wearing it mostly in the dark though which probably didn’t help, tempted to try again as I don’t ride so much in the dark these days/nights.

No issues with fit, running XS at 65Kg

Now using a PAS Normal with Polartec, works for road but I guess it’s pretty lightweight if you’re looking to use it for mtb

Depending on your use case you might get away with whatever your favourite gilet is with an Albion burner underneath. It’s like a little quilt that your bib straps hold in place (or a more technical version of the old pros trick of grabbing a fans newspaper to stuff under the jersey).

Endura Pro SL primaloft gilet is good for a race fit and not being overly warm, good for brisk winter rides. Best value and decent bike fit ime was the Decathlon Forclaz gilet but they don't seem to make them now.

+1 on Galibier izoard pro

Can't help on sizing but large fits as large. There are stretchy panels at the side keeping it snug

Mountain Equipment Switch or 7mesh Seton. The ME is generic outdoors clothing but is a slim cut and remarkably warm for its pack size. The Seton is more bike specific, but quite warm and very breathable.

Halfords/Boardman (bear with me!) do a decent insulated gilet.

It actually doubles up as a jacket with zip off arms. Normal elasticated rear pockets + a zip pocket.

Wore it out today minus the arms, over a Morvelo long sleeved top, and was just right temperature-wise.

Another vote for Galibier, but I went for the Zoncolan: https://www.galibier.cc/product/zoncolan-foul-weather-cycling-gilet/

Galibier here too - Mylar Insulated Gilet. Light and packs up small. Wear it off the bike too.

An option from Darevie

I use their lighter version but I'm tempted to get one of these as well.

I can give a discount code of at least 10% off

This thread is well timed as I’ve been researching gilets!

Im more inclined to get one as a mid layer and wear a normal riding jersey over the top to take the mud/gloop hit.  I’ve been looking at the 7mesh Seton and the Spatz Polar. I’m angling towards the 7mesh as it looks a bit less warm and has useful rear pockets

has anyone used the above and could comment on how they perform? Breathability is key, as I hate being sweaty!

As unattractive as the pockets on pockets on pockets is the following vest is made with alpha direct which is fabulous for breathability and maintaining warmth when wet.

Currently on a hefty sale https://saddleback.co.uk/products/sportful-past-giara-layer-vest?variant=40353002487893

if you don’t fancy the gravelista look something with polartec alpha direct, or the Mountain equipment switch (mentioned up thread) would be pretty good for warmth whilst doing high exertion activities and not getting too sweaty

I've ordered the Galiber Iozard. The zipped chest pocket looks good as i find rear pockets a pain to use with thick winter gloves on.

The Saddleback one looks nice but the chest pockets look like they wont hold anything on rough ground. Needs zips. And no XS.

I’ e got the older Izozard, I’m generally not a fan of chest pockets, find stuff in them annoying, the rear pockets are pretty cavernous, but the side zippers are a silly design, and only accessible when it’s turned black side out (reversible).

It’s a good Gillet for keeping warm as part of a “layered system” good VFM but has things about it I would like improved on.

keep expectations moderate and you’ll be happy, it performs its primary function well.
