I've just got a Sony Ericsson W995 and would like to use it on rides for location finding (for use with a physical map), but can't find a simple location finder that uses OS coordinates. Any ideas or am I being a numpty?

Oh thats very cool. Check out the OS website for the maths behind the conversions from GPS to LAT/LONG. Frankly its scray. Nice link JonT.
