Vitus Venon Seatpost Clamp

Bit of a long shot, but does anyone have a spare integrated seatpost clamp and a seatpost cover for the Vitus Venon that they’d sell me?

I was hoping to pickup one of the framesets from Wiggle’s eBay store, but apparently none of them include the clamp and cover, which essentially makes them unbuildable.

Is it a https://www.carbonda.com/ frame? If so contact them directly & buy from China.

Even if your not sure - I'd be asking them.

Sadly, I don’t think so - that was just one of the Substance gravel frames (I actually own one!). I think the Venon frame was actually a Wiggle mould, rather than generic.

I'm the same. Frame just arrived, no seatpost wedge. My current energie evo one doesn't fit either

Is this what you need? No idea about the seller though.

EDIT

Sorry, scrap that, it links to CRC 😠

Same here, bought Vitus Venon EVO frame on ebay from Tri-sport_resort. No warning that the seatpost clamp / wedge was missing, could not see that part of the frame in the ebay photos.

Frame arrived missing the seatpost clamp, and none to be found anywhere.

Surely they must be using a generic clamp shared across other frames, but how to find it?

Ask a person on the carbonda or flybike website like qwerty suggests above - I believe flybike are the actual manufacturer behind carbonda. They are usually quite responsive.
The venon is very similar to the FM1186 and CFR707 frames, so they perhaps share a seatclamp if flybike also were making the venon. Or they might sell you the venon clamp direct if they have it.

Trisports in CBA mode by the looks of things - understandable given the circumstances. I'd have assumed you'd get a hanger and a seatclamp on those frames unless it was stated otherwise.

@Garry - thanks for the information. I've contacted Carbonda and Flybike. Let's hope they respond soon.

Meanwhile Trisports continue to sell unusable frames without seatclamps, several more still on ebay with this issue. I agree based on normal practice and the Vitus website I'd expect a frame to be supplied with the clamp unless stated otherwise.

I’d be returning as not as described if it was me, unless it was what I really wanted or amazingly cheap. Though they seem to have been going for surprisingly high prices for budget frames with no warranty.

Same for me too, no wedge, tri sports have replied saying they will accept returns, I've emailed Vitus asking and also Ribble sells several different wedges for their frames, but they have different codes to the Vitus one, guess their own code, I've emailed asking if I can go down n compare wedges or try them in my frame, thought it was worth a try before I send it back

Hi. I'm in the same boat here. I noticed on one of the frames they had listed (a blue one) you could see it was missing. I was therefore very careful to pick one where this was not pictured and it looked like it would be there . The one I won had a front mech mount pictured, the one delivered did not. I can't believe they have tried to get away with this. Im tempted to let eBay buyer protection deal with it. They didn't reply to me prior to the sale on my multiple asks on what parts were included, so I'm shocked to see they are bothering to reply on the returns.

What's more shocking is that they were selling the seat clamps off at 99p, but they are now sold out.

I emailed vitus. They replied saying sorry we are under change of ownership. I emailed again saying can you at least tell us who the supplier is so we can arrange it ourselves. No response.

I will hang on a couple of weeks to see if a solution pops up. If not I'll get a refund. Thankfully we have eBay buyer protection in case they cease trading before then. Gutted I didn't just buy the full bike on sale and sell the bits I didn't need!

you might be onto something with ribble. However by the pics on the website it doesn't look like any will fit. The one for the cgr is too square at the back. The one for the ultra looks like it will go in but is for an aero post. A combination of the two might work. When do you think you will be going down to try it out?

crikey, had a load of those frames on watch, and they are going for ~800

I know a lad with a gravel SL, he's going to measure the wedge when he gets home from work, if it's nearly right I'll nip up n try it

It will be easier just to order one of each and send back if no good than go to the store, 2 n a half hours each way for me

The code on the Venon wedge is FM-VT03 if that helps for info

So i can confirm that the Ribble Gravel SL wedge R101 is pretty much the same as the Energie Evo wedge, 15mm wide, the venon evo is 22mm wide

So no good then? Maybe an email to Ribble to ask if any of the wedges they have are 22mm. The best bet is looking like the ultra one.

tried on live chat and got nowhere basically, order and send back if no good, the ultra one looks the widest but also that seat post is not round so the wedge isn't

Agreed. I don't think any of them are going to work. I would trip into Birmingham as that's only a 50 min train for me. But I doubt they have them in stock there to check it out. Hopefully we get some replies from the carbon guys above. I emailed vitus again asking for their supplier details. I've Google all of the numbers on the frame and the box, with no joy

I've just emailed Carbonda, i've had a cfr696 off them a few years back and they were always really good at responding, that frame is still going strong aswell and a  normal seat post clamp, close to giving up

Carbonda replied and said they can offer it to me for 5usd a unit and 15usd delivery, not sure how long that will take to get here, I've asked about getting 10 wedges and delivery time

Another Venon frameset buyer from Trisports here, a tad frustrating not to receive the clamp. That sounds quite positive @nodman7.

I too have emailed Vitus but zero response in a week. I see Vitus have been bought by Fraser group too so maybe they’ll get cracking with the spares. I’m tempted to return the frame but knowing my luck as soon as I do they’ll start providing clamps again. I’m going to check out the 3t strada clamp, looks familiar in shape. But I fear it’s just very specific to the Vitus.

I’m in the same situation, tried all the same avenues including ordering one of the clamps from ribble (gravel SL) in the hope it might fit or could be modified to fit but it sounds like it might be too different to work. I have also emailed carbonda, but have yet to hear back from them. Nodman7, sounds like you had more luck with Carbondale though 🤞🏻

I wondered about 3D printing,

Are the wedges aluminium? There's a chap in the Ragley frames thread who built a CAD model of some Ragley dropouts and machined a fair few for forum members. If there are enough folk (and an original to work from) to make it viable, would something like that be doable?

Carbonda delivery takes around two weeks if I remember correctly. The biggest delay for my frame was it sitting in a UK airport warehouse, it then arrived by man and van as a sole cargo.

I've had a frame off them plus a second order of spares.

Amazing. Ive not had a reply from them yet. Are you going to order? Would love to buy one off you, tbh I'd order 2, to keep a spare!

Seems word has got out or demand has gone down as the latest batch of frames last night went for 100 quid less than I paid.

I can't see how you would 3d print it unless you had the original part to scan

I'm gonna order 10 of them once he confirms, it's still a risk they are wrong size but going to try, it'll just be pushing the 30 day return

If I get 10 I'll divide full cost with delivery then somehow sort out details, not sure if can private message on ere or not, I'll update once I get another reply

Amazing. To be honest I'm not expecting Tri sport to reply when if try to return. I'm expecting buyer protection to have to step in.

I’d definitely be keen to take one of these too and share the cost, I’ve still not heard back from Carbonda. I think you can Message people directly on here by clicking on the user name so it should be easy to share details.

Same as the rest of you, I bought a Venon from Trisport and got the frame without the clamp. I bought groupset, wheels etc  before it was delivered so very keen to find a solution that doesn’t involve returning the frame. Very happy to pay Nodman7 whether the Carbonda clamp works or not. A mate has a working Venon so we could (hopefully) use his clamp to 3D print.

well i had one to copy too .. but essentially add 3.5mm each side with 6-7 layers of 25 thou glass cloth and araldite till you've got 22mm .. then dremel trim and hand sand into the frame ... bit of a faff.. bit messy.. bit of a challenge... its not even my bike (two mates have fallen for this problem which is how i found this post to help them out  !) but it'll work until the so called "bike of the year"gets some spares made by someone , somewhere..

Which clamp did you buy to modify?

this is a Ribble CGR one i think , but i didn't buy it tbh  . but we've ordered a CGR one to modify for the second bike. the face plate for seat post needs fettling a little to make it all fit too.  this was a "practice" but its worked quite well..

Vitus just replied saying…

I’m sorry to advise we are unable to provide you with a replacement part directly as all spare parts are held by our retailers, Wiggle and Chain Reaction.

I would advise contacting Chain Reaction or Wiggle for further support in sourcing this.

If you have any questions about the part you need or if there is anything further I can help out with, please let me know.

Mad that he’d suggest contacting W and CRC, surely Vitus know the situation.

I’ve emailed him back asking for supplier or failing that, dimensions, spec to 3D print if needed,

I’ll report back with any reply.

I got the same reply and I emailed back saying similar to you and I had no reply (a week ago).

Ive got a contact that worked at CRC a few years back and he knows someone who would be able to tell me the supplier if this Carbonda route doesn't work out. I'm a bit worried about carbonda. I've been watching vids over the weekend of the CFR707 frame and I'm certain the clamp in that bike won't fit our bikes.

This is great news but a little suspicious. I thankfully had managed to get hold of one (not arrived yet) by searching for previously sold ones, messaging the seller and I got lucky that they had a return on the way back to them. I've ordered another from the above just in case that doesn't show.

I really do wonder where they got hold of them. I suspect they bought them all from wiggle at 99p before the frames went on sale. I spoke to another ebayer on the phone in my quest to track one down. He was telling me how he had bought 5 Vitus aero seatposts on wiggle for 4.99 and has sold them all for 90 quid on eBay. Seems people are taking advantage of their demise. Fair play I suppose. Just frustrating for those people that need parts

In case you haven’t seen, there’s a chap who helped develop the Venon selling the clamps on eBay. I’ve just bought one, was tempted to buy two but that’s just being greedy. I can’t copy the link onto here. He could sell them for £50 each at least but he’s selling for about a tenner, what a guy!

Can vouch the eBay ones are legit linked above. Have mine now. The guy worked for vitus and ordered them from the supplier
