Vitus Rapide Hardtail | lockout removal

Hi, i know a few people have brought the Vitus Rapide HT in the CRC sale and some ahve talked about adding a dropper post.

I have now brought a dropper for mine and am looking to install it. The forks have a lockout that i think will need to come off. Is it simple to remove? Read some stuff online saying i will need a new damper!!! Surely not!

All help appreciated

Why do you need to remove the lockout ?

Assume it's the same as on my Rapide FSย  (rs sid sl) and therefore it is simple to remove the remote but, given the spring in the damper in the remote lockout version, it will always be full open and so it's up to whether that matters to you.

Back in the day you could do a diy fix to make the damper like a non-remote version (peterpoddy did a guide if i remember right) but I'm unsure with the latest damper.

you could use a few different options for the dropper..
there are over the bar lever options that might work with the lockout lever? or you could use one of the 2 lever setups that they use on certain XC bikes?

I've fitted a dropper lever and left the lockout remote on my daughter's.

Will try and get a pic up later, but I fitted a 2x lever like this:

No need to lose the lockout.

Scott Tracloc (Not twinloc) lever
Bontrager Drop Lock
Regualr Dropper lever plus a RS Twistloc

Are all options for running both a fork lockout and a dropper post lever together.

Thanks guys, that is useful. I got a brand x post. I'm not sure if that matters for using a twinloc or similar system. I will look to see if they are easily affordable. Although my preference is to just fit these and leave the lock out alone if i can, like the pic above. Not sure if my hands will allow that though

@ravingdave my 13yo daughter can use both levers ok.
Just means rolling your hand forward to get thumb on lock-out lever.

It wasn't too bad - I have an internal routing kit with cable & magnet.
I took the bungs out to make it easier - what put for the small screw holding them in though - I dropped it in the frame and had to use the magnet to guide it back up the down tube lol
