just downloaded viewranger for my android phone.didnt realise the price of the maps!! can you use or get maps from anywhere else that are cheaper or ideally free that work with this app.
i can use openstreet maps on my nokia 5800 with viewranger.
just use mytracks from google instead. You can upload GPX files to it and it will record all you could want.
My Tracks is ace.
Have a look at "OS Maps" too - just grabbed it yesterday, not used it in anger yet but looks interesting.

You could try RMaps and Mobile Atlas Creator (MOBAC). It's a bit of a faff, but it does work. There are a few tutorials around to set it up if you google.
