Probably dead obvious, but i've got a mental block on it. Are the spacings the same between sram/shimano road and MTB cassettes?

I recall campag are different, although not sure exactly why. And I know shimano and sram MTB cassettes are interchangeable. But are road and MTB?

I need a new cassette for my turbo wheel (cos i'm stealing the nearly new one with zero mud miles on it currently to use on my MTB) and was looking at prices of cassettes and i can get a 10spd 12-28 tiagra for less than £20. I don't care what it weighs or even what the ratio is, i can overcome that by resistance settings, etc., just will it work with the MTB chainset and chain that's on the bike.

Everything I know and believe says yes, but like i said i've got a mental block on being sure.

I've used them on both, and they've worked fine

I would say yes, I do it the other way round (10sp MTB cassette on my cross bike) with no problems.
Ribble are doing Shimano bits pretty cheap at the moment though, £21.56 for a Deore cassette if you buy something else to take the spend over £35.

lol, BITD 12-28 was regarded as the 'perfect' mtb cassette when we were all on 7 speed.
