As per the title, Can I use a SRAM 10 speed rear Clutch mech (X0type 2) with 9 speed X0 shifters?
As the indexing is controlled by the shifters and because the inner plate dimension are the same between 9 and 10 I'm guessing it should be ok....

No. Tried that the other way round, different take-up ratio.

Don't quote me on this, but a friend is using a 10 speed zee mech with a 9 speed Sram shifter and it works great. He says the actuation ratio is nigh on the exact same...
Works anyway apparently.
The other way around, not so sure.

You need a c5.5mm spacer on the pinch bolt of a 10 speed Shimano mech to work with 9 speed SRAM shifters. It's a bodge, but by all accounts works fine.

No other permutations will work though.

Hmmm....... Looks like I'm sticking with a 2 x 9 setup for a while longer then......
