What sort of set up should I be looking at for about £100 2nd hand, as first step into discs ?

for £100 I'd be looking at some of the HFX-9's they had over on crc in the sale.

If it's your first step to disks it's worth having somethign you know is going to work and not need bleeding etc before you start.

These are good to if you have centrelock rotors - ive had a pair and they have been really good - very happy with the performance

I agree with the posts above, def buy new.

Wooly hat on ebay had some great deals on hayes strokers, 100 for rydes and 125 for trials.

Do you need hubs/wheels too?

I've got that 2008 LX brake set, with 2 x 160mm rotors, going spare.

Brand new and boxed, never been fitted - they were part of a groupset+wheels, but had another set of brakes already. I'd take £100 for the set.

The rotors are center-lock, so you'll need compatible hubs to fit them.

Email in profile if you want to give me a shout.

Winstanleys have good deals on the Avid BB7's at the moment if you don't mind cables. You won't have to buy new levers either. I've just bought a 160 for £48 from them.
