Anyone here used them for offroad stuff yet?
What front chain ring (32t?) do you find works best. Can you use other shifters with them, are they the standard 2:1 pull?
Just wondering if its a cheap viable alternative to Rolhoff?
Any problems so far?
Ta..
Use an Alfine, Nexus is not designed for MTB use. You can use any shifter marked Nexus or Alfine as these have the correct cable pull for internal geared hubs.
Alfine's are awesome. Given mine a proper beating (about 12 days in the Maritime Alps now + some stuff in Les Arcs) and the bearings are holding up great.
Thanks MP for correcting me, got a bit confused there, it is Alfine that I am thinking of ๐
What size front chainring do you use with the Alfine?
Do you know what range the Alfine gives you?
306% spread, similar to a 1 x 8

I use a 26t up front for long fire-road climbs and steep tech descents (French Alps & Maritime Alps)
A clear disadvantage for long road sections, but who cares it's a MOUNTAIN bike.
Thanks ash, just one more question, can you shift gear while stationery?
yep

Hardly a long term test?
