[Closed] Unresolved returned product dilemma

I bought a bike part, it developed a minor fault, that could have become a lot worse. I emailed the (non EC) retailer and he said "OK to return".

After an epic email battle-thon, he's refusing to refund or replace as he says the product is use-able (in which he is correct - for now). All he is offering is to send the product back to me. At the moment (as the email battle-thon continues) I have no choice other than accept that or keep battling. The value is not huge but I could do without losing it. (not worth suing internationally)

Any ideas? I've threatened publicising matters on UK bike forums (not worth it until I at least get the product back), and apart from sticking to my guns I don't know what else to do.

Sorry I'm not giving details but I'd prefer to give the seller a chance to before deciding what to do.
