12 speed mechs are bent. LoveMTB has a good YouTube video about it.
However, I can't tell if that's the right bend or not.
I'd be looking at the mech hanger in the first instance.
Every day's a school day.
It looks very similar to the XTR example at the start of that video. Good job I didn't attempt to bend it 'straight'.
Mech hanger looks fine. I've whipped it off and everything seems straight.
I'll carry on with my original plan - take everything apart, put it all back together and hope for a different outcome.
Looking fine most likely isn't enough. My mech got kissed by a rock yesterday and the shifting in the lowest 3 gears when to rat shit.
Got the tool on it and it was about 4mm out at the rim. Straightened it up and everything is back to normal.
Even new frames and new mech hangers have been found to be out.
I’ll carry on with my original plan – take everything apart, put it all back together and hope for a different outcome.
Well I took it all apart and put it all back together again and it's all tickety-boo (on the workstand at least).
Wife's just done the mech-bend on an old LX mech which now overshifts into the spokes now. She never mentioned it to me, I just heard the sound of mech VS spokes when I moved the bikes around.
Bent it back into place. All good.
