I lost my "Big Ring" 😯 on Saturday's road ride (sorry, to clarify, I lost the use of it) - new bike - around 400km, cables need tensioning I guess - however, I tried loosening the pinch bolt with a multi tool, forgetting that a pliers is better at holding onto the cable than fingers 😳 To add to an already messy situation, the crimp on the end of the cable came off - the general upshot being when I next tried to shift up to the big ring the cable just came out of the pinch bolt. I completed the rest of the ride with the little ring.
I'm trying to get it back into the pinch bolt and there's a wee lug that's confussing me - does the cable go inside or outside the lug before tightening the pinch bolt?
Sorry, image search and pictures from the Shimano service manual aren't really helping me.

But the thing that the washer tightens against...there's a small lug on that. That's what's confusing me. As the cable comes up from under the BB, I'm not sure which side of the lug it's supposed to go 😕
