Now I know there has been a few of these posts lately, and after reading them and Speaking to Jedi I decided to book a course with uk bike skills .
I’ll be honest and say I expected a lot from it, but half expected it to be really good but not as good as I hoped, call me a pessimist!! 😉
I can honestly say I have never had such a mind blowing amazing experience riding my bike. From the minuet I took the bike out of the car to when I drove out of the car park I never stopped picking things up, in fact things are still sinking in. They way Tony works is great, he quickly works out how you learn and fast you pick things up explains them so clearly that you find these new skills or ways of riding feeling intuitive in minutes.
As a coach I cant speak highly enough of this guy, really passionate, focused and clear, but never do you feel under pressure to push further than you want, until your so confident and chilled with the skill that you end up happy to ride things you wouldn’t dream of, at a speed and line that you wouldn’t have seen before, but now it just plain to see.
I have done a few courses now none nearly as good as this, and none with a coach who is enjoying themselves as much coaching as you are learning and takes pleasure in your success as much as Tony clearly does.
I really can’t do the day justice with this post and I don’t expect to get a load of replies, but really I can’t recommend him highly enough, even the trails you ride are great fun, it is the best investment I have made in my biking by far and none have made nearly as much difference, and if you have any doubt, honestly go for it you won’t be disappointed in any way. This is proper professional coaching and is just a huge step to really improving your riding on loads of levels with a quality Bloke who will sort out your riding for the better and have you grinning the whole way!!
100% agree with all that, done 2 sessions (loved both and my riding is much improved 😀 )
Did you get 1-on-1 training or group session?
both mine were 1 to 1
100% agree: did a day at the begining of the year - great day, learnt loads, top bloke
1-2-1 mate. well worth it go for it!!!
that's an awesome write up wookster. i didn't expect you to do that!
remmeber what i said and keep working on the skills and the techniques will come 🙂
our day is never done
I will get myself on one of these courses as soon as.....
a) I sort out some pikes and a frotn hub!
b) I can ride for a whole day!
a whole day?? 4hr sessions with me dude
And 4hrs is usually enough to leave your brain fried and buzzing at the same time! I'm still digesting the stuff I picked up from a 1-1 with Tony - for instance I cruised through some stuff in the Lakes the other weekend that I'd have bottled a few months ago.
thepurist, now that's what i like to hear 🙂
wookster, i got an undelivered message for the email with the blog and pics today. did you get them?? i thought you did? (before i delete them)
Yes mate thanks a million have them!!! Still buzzing Mate!! Thanks again!
I'd echo Wooksters opening post - pretty much what I thought of my morning with Tony a few weeks ago.
After all the good press I'd read I thought I'd give it a punt. Tony obviously knows what he's doing and understands how people best learn. At one stage he realised I was over thinking things, so sneakily distracted me with something else for a few minutes. This trick worked and allowed me to then managed to do what I'd been tried previously, which boosted my confidence again. Tony is a great teacher.
Although I still have frustrating days when I can't get my flow, I know why, and can correct things.
You should have spent a bit of time on steps Hicksy 😆
I'm probably being thick Big Pete, but eh? 😕
i pass the uk bike skills van in aspley woods car park every lunch (i work locally) I guess if it helps you i shouldnt judge but thats an awfull lot of money to fork out, when several clubs have regular rides round there. you could have a great ride, learn lots, make new friends and spend your money on kit instead?
rbrstr - LOL! that's like saying you've got bunions but their better now because you've walked into a scholl shop and left without buying anything.
