Tyre delaminating - will I die content

Just refitted a DD Maxxis in anticipation of DYFI as my next trip and noticed this.  It looks like the join of the tread rubber has delaminated in a small section.  Tyre appears to be holding air fine.  Run it or bin it (I’d rather not as 29 DD tyres are pricey!)

I'd just deflate, stick some tyre glue or seam sealant in there and let it set (24 hrs) and then re-inflate it.

Bin. We did 1 knob off a Mary at Fort William, it was arguably less than that. Went in the bin.

Both me and the lad are fussy, I gave away 2 DH22s, a DH 34 and a wild Enduro this week as neither of us like them.

Nae danger. Bin. I just binned the Shortys I took off after winter for far, far less issues than that - cracking along bases of side knobs. I'd not want a tyre letting go while riding personally.

How much is dentistry?

More than a tyre.

I had a Vittoria road tyre start to delaminate. After I swapped it off, I picked at it out of curiosity. The tread just peeled off with what felt like no force.

I wouldn't want to corner hard and have the same thing happen.

If you buy one before you go it's got to be cheaper than the full RRP continentals in the dyfi sign in desk.

It’s a rear not a front which reduces the risk of a front door ejection moment (I’d not even consider running a dodgy looking road tyre).

I’ve got the EXO+ I normally run which I can chuck back on.  For the price of some tyre glue I think I’ll give that a go anyway and see how it works.

There’s no way I’m buying contis at DYFI. Nowt against them but I’d need to buy 2 for matchy matchy reasons and won’t get much change out of £160!
