I tend to pick up most of my tryes from sales/ the classifieds etc, so I'm wishing to pick the brains of those who put more thought into it than me.

I've been running some kenda's, 2.1 nevagal on the back and 2.35 blue groove up front. I split the blue groove over the weekend, but rather fortuitously I had been given a 2.1 blue groove by a work mate who had gone 'tubeless', so stook it on today. But it came up noticeably smaller than the 2.1 nev on the back; being of the age where front tyres tended to be wider than the rears this is weirding me out.

So tyre experts I need a 2.0/2.1 rear tyre that will do for year round use around derbyshire, and I would be loathed to spend more than £25. What would work well with 2.1 Blue groove up front?

Are you sure? Mine don't
Do you have different rim widths front/rear?

If you want to keep the 2.1" BG up front, and want a smaller rear, how about a 1.95" Kenda Nevegal DTC-lite, they come up suprisingly big for a 1.95" tyre

1.95 Nevegal does seem the obvious choice (well obvious to me now 😉 ) so cheers for that and the link!

James - both 717 rims, and the difference is obvious to the eye (and not just mine), even double checked the rear to make sure it was 2.1. QC issues maybe??

Which bit of derbyshire?

Dark peak: bigger rims and 2.35 high rollers

White Peak: no idea, never riden there

South Derbyshire: never found a tire that didnt work here, it's just soft soil, particularly liked panaracer Fire 2.1's, but things may have moved on from them.

The Derwent valley/ shining cliff woods area are my doorstep rides, and I ride either white peak or the dark peak most weeks. Never had a problem with xc rims in the dark peak.

Anyone use a nevagal up front, how do they fare?
