Turner 5 spot, 2 months old and the top shock bolt has sheared at the nut end. Has anyone else had this problm ?
i have seen replacement bolts on CRC for £9 each or i could get the same thing in stainless from an online fixings supply for less than a quid. Do i need to replace it with a genuine part for warranty ? or should i contact the online shop where it was purchased as it maybe warranted.
any feed greatly received.

Or email Turner direct. They'll sort you out.

aye, speak to Turner, but it may take a week or so to get a new bolt out to you. It you want to keep on riding I'm sure a stainless bolt won't hurt for a day or so

Both my upper and lower snapped - the bolt casting appeared to be very poor. I have replaced with stainless and had no further problems.

Wierd. The chap who bought my DW 5spot has had the samething happen to the head of the lower shock bolt. In his house, heard a loud metallic ping and the head had just sheared off.

Question how easy is it to extract the bolt? Is it hard/messy/expensive? Be daft to post the whole bike or frame off wouldn't it if a lbs could sort.

of you can get the shock off you might be able to unscrew the bolt but if you can't remove the shock it'll be a very fiddly job.

Podge surely crank off the counter-screw and turn? Any decent lbs should have this tool?

It doesn't thread into the frame so will just push through , i just used the 5mm allen key and tapped it with my palm , plus the allen key can keep the shock in place until you put your new bolt back in

Yep mine did it after three weeks, I think that the problem is that the nut end rocker is not pivoting on the solid part of the bolt but on the threaded part, so I bought some high tensile bolts with the correct shoulder length for both rockers to pivot on & have a few left if anyone wants to buy some - email in profile
To remove the broken bolt you need to apply a slight load to the saddle to take the shock preload off the bolt.

I've had my crash replacement DW for four months and already replaced both due to failure. TBH, I kind of expected it. They're clearly not the best bolts, and my old HL did exactly the same thing.

I've got some regular threaded stainless bolts in there now and they're fine. I've not spent much time looking for something with as long a shank as the normal ones.
