My lad has Fulcrum Racing 900 DB on his CX / road bike, it says they are tubeless ready in line with the instructions on Fulcrums website. That states that Schwalbe rim strips should be used, do you reckon these are essential or will a wrap of tape do?

He's under 30kg and can already run silly low pressures on clinchers.

Looks like Schwalbe tape is a bit more plasticky than most rim tapes, but it is just rim tape, so I'm sure any other would work.

Strips are easier but tape will be fine.

It is "just" rim tape yes, but from experience, the Schwalbe/DT Swiss (DT Swiss make it for Schwalbe) rim tape is by far and away the best rim tape I've used...

I’ve got some Schwalbe tubeless tape, doesn’t seem much different to the usual yellow Stans stuff.

Any rim tape will do. I used Gorilla tape on those wheels with no issues.

The rear cassettes free hubs are crap though. Went through 3 on a year due to very poor sealing causing the bearings to fail. Also the actual wheel bearings are only sealed on one side. Not great for British conditions.
