At the beginning of July, a guy in the chalet I was staying with in Morzine had a repair kit he used on tubeless tyres, consisting of some rubber solution, some fibre, and an awl. I was wondering if anyone had seen/used one of these kits, and where you got it from please?

Do they work with a split across the tread?

They'll work on a hole, but not a split (I would have thought).
Work on cars too.

I use this one for splits - comes with 3 patches but they can be bought separately
