[Closed] Tubeless and bikes that "sit"

Hi all.

I have a spare jump bike / hardtail that my bother and GF use very ocasssionally. I'm putting on some halo freedom wheels (it was on halo combats - super heavy) and specialized tubeless tyres which I bought based on the basis of the price and tread pattern not especially 'cause they're 2bliss.
The bike doesn't get used that much in all honesty (I work offshore so I'm not around to even spin the wheels) but I still fancy giving tubeless a shot. The wheels might even get bumped up onto my Five if I like them enough

Will the sealant just gunk up in the bottom of the tyre if it's left for too long?

Hi mate

Can't help with the question, but i have a rear Halo Freedom wheel in good condition for sale if you were looking at saving a bit more cash.

If not, consider a free bump ๐Ÿ™‚

Just pulled a pair of my race wheels out of storage after five months. The Stan's Solution had pooled and solidified in the bottom of the tyre, so I scraped it out and am going to put new stuff in.

Apparently it will, though I just went for a ride after about 5-6 months off the bike - forgot to top up the sealant and didn't have any problems.

IME - also depends on the temp, and whether its in UST/TLR/2Bliss tyres or normal ones

What a pain in the ass.

This happened to a friend last weekend, you can't hear on the video but it sounded like a shotgun went off nexto me (I am in front). He's lucky it didn't happen a couple of seconds later otherwise he would have been in trouble.

mark ive heard if you put an actual duck in your tyre and just drop food thru the valve once a day to feed the duck. It will keep your tyre sealed with its bodily fluids and it sheds feathers during wheel rotation out of fear and they grow back after the ride so you have a fail proof system . Wikid awsum

Can't be - last time I heard they still taught people to spell at school.

Just a thought - has anyone actually tried the "duck down" thing? I suppose it might work to seal large holes, as the down would just act like the fibres in sealant (but bigger)and clump around the hole (maybe...).

Mark keeps going on about it, so maybe there's some sort of sense in it?

I heard if you put Mika in you tyre all the glitter and tears that he sheds will make a 100% foolproof leak protection system. I have already got the wheels on order GSuperstar, cheers. I'll probably give it a shot in the summer when the bike's getting a bit more use..

Firestarter.

Any particular type of duck?

Or can I just use one from the local pond?

How about for a 29er wheel. Will I need a goose to account for the extra volume?

stu any duck will do but for big volume 29er id say i red kite would suffice or even a lamb may work
