Im talking about rim strips to be used with tubes.
Once upon a time velox was good.
I've got a couple of rim strips which have gone quite hard and the top layer is peeling off, possibly causing punctures itself. Its also not sitting in the middle of the rim well anymore and in places is hard up against the inner rim wall.
I've used multiple layers of electrical tape in the past, but it tends to crease over time.
So for the olde fashioned tubed riders what do you recommend and why?
TIA
Schwalbe plastic rim tape and sticky backed nylon tapes are both pretty good and I use both when I provide wheels to customers without complaint.
Thanks ck.
Obviously everyone else is riding tubeless then?
Velox is still good.
electrical tape in my open pros, gorilla tape in the velocitys and the crests.
Stans/WTB tape, electrical tape, Mavic/Schwalbe/Shimano rim tape. It all seems to do the same job.
