Hi all,

1st post.

I am having alot of trouble with my 3 gear front derailleur - it has never really worked right. It refuses to shift to the lowest gear no matter how much I play with the limits/stops screws.

I can sometimes rarely get it go down, when I am at speed and shift from the highest to lowest in one go. My bikes ride are in pretty hilly country - so needless to say, not having easy access to that lowest gear is driving me mad. I have taken off, cleaned it, oiled etc - nothing worked.

Any help, is much appreciated.

Is it the original one that came with the bike.might just need rotating slightly on the frame for better chain contact.

Does it move OK with the cable disconnected? Does the cable run freely when disconnected? Is the derailleur mounted correctly, e.g.correct height above chainrings?

Follow this Park tutorial, if you take it step by step it'll work (ignore the deadpan delivery!)

So I took a much closer look yesterday, I found a number breaks or tears in the middle gear. I don't know how these happened, but could these be the culprit.

Second gear wheel.
