long shot but does anybody want to swap their 51cm for a 54cm? or buy my 100 mile old frame/forks so I can buy a 51cm?
My Mrs has just taken delivery of my 51'' frame, thanks Winstanleys. I've got some Crest/Novatek on the way. But debating what todo with the rest of the components; it depends on whether it'll take big tyres like 2'' IKONS : if so then it'll replace my Scandal Mtb and maybe my road bike as well. But what'll probably happen is it'll add to the bike count 🙂
Still no word of a refund from ShinyBikes and no communication either.
I've opened a dispute with Mastercard.

Easyrider - gutting about the refund... The Ikons could be a squeeze at the rear - but if you run without guards they might just fit on the front. I had some 42mm Contis on with loads of room at the front and more than enough out back...
I'm about to renew the somewhat aged drivetrain on mine - I've got a new 6700 cassette with the 30T at the top and matching chain. Not sure if the mech needs a refresh too, but it's good to read that people are using the short cage Ultegra mech with the bigger sprocket.
Easy rider - try phoning them again. I got someone way more communicative this time. Worth another try at least (I have no connection with them beyond also being owed a frame)

@brassneck I've seriously called them many times, and been given false promises of either a frame or refund, but that's the limit of their customer service (ie : answering the phone or taking money) as far as i goes. Not even a single email in reply. Anyhow masterCard are on the case now. PS : this thread is linked from the landing page on upgrade Bikes lol.

Oh yeah : the frame. The 2'' IKONS wouldn't fit at the back (did not think they would), so the mtb lives on! Now maybe the road bike will be getting sacked for parts. By putting double ended ferrules on the cable outers drops bars can be put on different around without unwrapping the bar tape.
Same here with the refund situation - I phoned them last week so I think I will phone the credit card today.

I'm owed a frame, haven't cancelled yet. If it doesn't show by 17/10 I'll probably be in the queue. But that will also depend on some proactive communication from them, a phone call or a mail or txt TO me would go along way..
Can fully understand why you guys are pissed though, refunds should be instant - quick enough to take the money... and I am now more than a bit nervous - never had to resort to charge back before.

Some parts taken from my carbon roadie but this will be a work in progress as I definitely want to change the bars.

Just got an email notification of a refund from ShinyBikes.
I phoned them this morning to ask why I hadn't been refunded so far - he said their manager was in today (Fraser) so would take care of it, but I mentioned that this was the response on Friday, to which he said Fraser didn't arrive, and that he had been away recently.
So either they decided that they couldn't play me along anymore, or 'Fraser' had been away and/or they are just a bit chaotic - which I sort of think might be the case.
I feel out of date now with my Stans Iron Crosses 🙁

I started with my stem up there somewhere up where yours is and has slowly dropped and now a 0deg rise 90mm thomson stem

@ UnderTheWood- it's a 51 but weirdly the frame looks smaller than my 52 CdF. You're welcome to take a look, am in Chandlers and e-mail in profile.
@ cloudnine - did you find that it took a while to get it set up? Have you changed your bars?
@ Murray - don't panic, I haven't even adjusted the seat post yet! I've heard of a flat bar being fitted to a Tripster so an option if drops don't appeal.
Edit: just to add that I haven't gone tubeless with this although an essential requirement was for a Hope hub.
seems crazy to not go tubeless when you have stans rims! Or perhaps you like fixing punctures ?!?!
CG.. I just slowly dropped the bars (salsa cowbells) down and then still felt a bit too upright so put a 0deg rise stem on.

It seems so - I had a Worldpay refund notification but my online barclaycard page now confusingly shows my 18th August Shiny Bikes transaction as a credit, rather than a debit that was on there previously.
The account balance looks like the refund has been received as well.

Ha! In the last couple of weeks I've had one tubeless tyre explode off the rim and the other totally flatted although fortunately near the end of the ride. This was on my ht.
In an ideal world I'd follow Somafunk's example and have two sets of wheels but mine were bloomin' expensive so no chance!
How much for the wheels - mine where 432 or something from JRA, with supercomp spokes and hope hubs.

cg - what's special about them ? Maybe the grail rims are more expensive?
Nothing special, rims were iirc £150.
your rims would be 30 or 40 more, so there's some difference. Your grails look a bit more versatile, the iron cross don't do road tubeless, whereas your grails do.

Just had a mega blowout on the road here in Majorca. Was using schwalbe ultremo zx . Wonder if my faithful gravel kings in 23c would be a good choice for road rides 😈
So cinnamon, I'm recommending gravel kings. I use 28c on my tripster and they are sublime tyres.
[b]Grail rims[/b] - just a heads-up to say that if anyone is thinking of using these without tubeless tyres then it's best to get a tube with a long valve. Standard ones mean that it's not exactly easy to inflate and could be interesting on the roads and trails. Rims are very deep!
Or use a valve extender.
Anyone had any issues with the FSA headset.. mine seemed to be making a bit of a creaky clicky noise over bumpy ground so stripped it down today. Seems water has got in it a little and parts of it were just starting to rust. Dunno whether it just wasnt tight enough, greased enough etc or whether its likely to be a future issue?
Bugger - need to order some metal drill bits and a new seat collar...
