I'm considering changing from a fuel ex to a remedy and was wondering if anyone had ridden them both to compare?

feel any difference riding?
any perceiveable weight difference?

if i do it will either be a 9 or a 9.7/8 and I'll be swapping over the wheels with my crossmax ST's.

any thoughts from you lot?

Not the Remedy, but I went from an aluminium 2010 Stumpjumper FSR to a carbon version of the same frame as a warranty exchange.

No noticeable difference to the ride of the bike due to the frame to be honest and any weight saving (I think a couple of hundred grams) was offset by the Brain gubbins that came with the carbon frame.

Main difference is that the carbon one looks nicer & has the press-fit BB, which looks be a pain to change & get spares for.

I always thinks, if the frame is a keeper, when the bearings has to be changed, the drama to get them out of the more fragile carbon, much prefer the alu ! ๐Ÿ˜›

I have a 2011 Remedy 9.7 and i do really like it, i'm running 1x10 with a 34T front ring, its easy to climb and great on trails coming down.

However the carbon frames have a common problem with the front mech direct mount bracket, where the paint seems to chip off the top left corner of it. Mine did this and I had it checked out, Trek would have replaced the frame under warrant if I was the original owner. The trek dealer checked the bike over and it just seems to be cosmetic paint damage where the direct mount bonds to the frame. As Trek have said this is a common problem and i'm not the original owner i'm going to have to live with it.

If your keen on a Remedy then maybe get an alu one. If you're looking for a carbon frame then I would get a Santa cruz blur ltc, rode one the other day and loved it, plus they look great in my opinion.

Hope this helps?

Ive got a 2010 Remedy 8 and dont find the alu any kind of problem. In fact a friend had a Fuel Ex 9.9 and a Welsh rock went right throught the downtube whereas mine just has a chip... Read that as you will.

The same rock hit both your bikes at the same velocity, amazing.
