I have a 2004/2003 Trek liquid 55 frame that has developed some play in the main pivot. After disassembling and replacing the pivot bearings i found that the frame on one side of the main pivot has worn so that the bearing does not fit tight into the frame. This means that there is still play in the pivot even with new bearings, is there any way that this could be fixed or is it time to ditch the frame?

Thanks.

The main bearings on the Trek Liquid range should be be fitted with some form of bearing fit compound otherwise they will wag like an eager puppy.

+1 to MrOvershoot

My liquid does exactly the same, the main pivot bearings were never designed to be a press fit and required a retaining compound to keep them stuck - loctite 660 in my case.

thanks for that, i'll give it a go. The pivot bearings were last serviced by my LBS and it doesn't look like any retaining compound was used after inspecting the frame and old bearings.
