Im very near to deciding on a trek EX9 but at 5ft 11 can not decide between the large 19.5 and the medium 18.5 30 " inside leg has any one got this bike and can give recommendation also finding it difficult to find a dealer who will actually let me take the damn thing of road any suggestions for the west midlands. i have ridden on road so the large feels right but feel it could be a mistake without trying off road
cheers trev

On first thoughts I'd say the 18.5in without a doubt. What's your current bike and what's it's effective TT measurement? Trek bikes come up long and from having a quick check on the Trek website the 18.5" has a eff TT of 609mm or about 24". The 19.5" is 627mm or 24.67"...very roomy! Hell, even the 17.5" is 590mm or 23.2".

Having written all of that, I'd actually say the choice should be between the 17.5" or 18.5". Hope I've helped ๐Ÿ˜‰

Slight hijack but I'm selling a 19.5 EX9 over on the classifieds if any use? but I reckon at your height I'd go with the 18" I'm 6'2 but I do find the 19.5 too small.

I am 5ft 10" and found the 16.5" Actual miles too small. Your body weight is too far forward on it with the saddle up high.

I went for the 17.5 Actual and love it. Test ride one is my best advice. But don't just ride it round a car park. Find a hill and go up and down it.

I am 6'2" and have the 19.5. It has a very long effective top tube and so I changed the 100mm stem for an 80mm and it now fits me perfectly - very pleased with the bike overall

cheers for that every one now all ive got to do is get one at the right price as the 19.5 does seem a tad to big my present bike is a giant nrs2 medium which has been brilliant snakebite has set the ball rolling on that one

trev, I went from a Giant Trance in medium with 31" inside leg to a 18.5 virtual and it fits perfect.
