Last race of the Welsh league cx on Sunday. Sandy fast draining soil and some actual sand. My tyre choice is either the grifo wire bead tyres that came with the bike or some pdx's I bought for mud. From what I've read it would seem that the grifo tread would be more appropriate... But: the grifos I have are heavier than the pdx's and, being cheaper, much less supple. I'm inclined to think that even through nominally a mud tread, the pdx's I have might be better than the grifo due to the weight reduction and suppleness increase.
Thoughts - is tread more important than weight and suppleness or not?
