Is there such a thing? I’ve been chatting to various companies and while they all cover damage to my own bike, they won’t go near anything that’s not mine. It’s a nice bike but it’s also quite a lot to be on the line for if anything happens to it.

Are you not talking about Excess insurance? The thing you buy when you're hiring a car or motorbike?
Talk to one of those sorts of companies perhaps, see if they'll cover you?

The bike shop you hire the bike from should provide insurance?

They normally only offer nominal damage insurance in my experience. If the bike is nicked it's on you.
