Transmission T Type Question

I have a new bike arriving that has a T type mech on it.

It also has adjustable geometry on the chainstays.

I've also changed the gearing on it a little.

Going from a 32t to 30t.

Looking at the SRAM app it recommends a different length chain with a 30t when the chainstays adjuster is in the high position.

Going from 118 down to 116.

But it will require a118 chain in the low position.

I think I will be running it in the high position but want to swap between the two to start with to be sure.

I'm thinking leave it at 118 until I decide on the adjuster as it'd be better 2 links to long than 2 links to short.

Anyone have any experience of this kind of thing with T Type?

No experience with adjustable chain stays, but I have swapped between chains of different length. It worked fine, but T-type is very sensitive to B distance. If you have issues with shifting when adjusting chainstay length then resetting B distance should fix it. It’s a different adjustment to a normal B screw, but easy once you get the hang of it and SRAM have a good video guide.

Due to the lack of B tension screw on the T-Type mechs, they really are quite finnicky about a perfect setup. From what I've seen, sometimes you'll be lucky when dropping 2 teeth on a chainring (you'll still need to loosen the mech and retighten it as per setup instructions), sometimes you'll need to drop 2 chain links. And as for bikes with adjustable chainstays, it does seem to be the inherent oversight in an otherwise excellent products arsenal...

Was riding with someone on a new Levo Gen4 last weekend, with Eagle 90 fitted. Chainstays in the short position are a short (for an eBike) 435mm but can be adjusted to 444mm I understand... But that will require a longer chain and re-setting up again to do so...

Hmmm it’s a fair point and something I didn’t consider at all, my levo sl has chain stay adjusters and t type and it arrived in mullet setup but I run it in 29er but with the 27.5 rear wheel currently and I didn’t touch the chain or mech at all. Just adjusted and off I went.
