Looking at the Scott Mtb Marathon a week on Sunday.
Anyone know the trails round there and know what I mite face?
No FS at the moment so going with my 29 hardtail.

Think classic English ridgeway and fast hardpack bridleway. There will be a climb it two up the escarpment for the ridgeway I imagine but nowt technical. 29er hardtail sounds perfect. Only word of caution is if it's rained a lot it will be really sticky as its all chalk round there.
I did the exmoor marathon the other week and that stuck to pretty easy bridleway so I'd expect the same.
I used to live near wantage and it is nice round there.
As rob2 says really. Some steep but short climbs, bit rutted in parts but hard tail I'll be fine. All pretty dry at the moment but will be slippy it it rains

Great day out it was too. The ruts started to get a bit wearing after a while, but superbly organised day and great trails indeed.
