The routes around Moel Parc, Penycloddiau and Moel Arthur are nice bridleways, but might be 10-15km each way from his door, so depends how fit he is! Otherwise he could get the train from Rhyl down the Conwy valley and ride the trail centre or natural trails around Llanwrst/Betws, again if he's fit enough.
