Morning,

After little advice, looking to do one of those trailbreak rides tomorrow, as it heads out of my town Reigate. Are they any good?

Now there isn't much info on the website, so what will it be like?

I take it starts and finishes in the same place?

Also have done any proper mountain biking for a few years (due to injuries and children, and only found out last night i have the time to ride it), so which bike to i take?

My Carbon giant with slightly dodgy disk brakes (could really do with a service, they work, but just not as good as they should)
OR, my single speed rigid Dekerf, only trouble is i have not ridden it in anger as a single speed, and don't know if it will be 100% reliable since converted. Also how bad are the hills likely to be on this bike?? Know some of the area well and there aren't really any big hill so to speak of so was thinking this would be the better option?

Thanks in advance

usually a really well organised event - 3 circular routes starting and finishing at the same point. The short (family / fun) route and the medium route will be fully waymarked, the long route probably has an extra loop in addition to the medium that you'll have to self navigate.

I don't know the area that well but was on a ride last night in the area (from top of Reigate Hill / Wray Lane) and came across a few marker arrows that have been laid out. It seems like a reasonable chunk at least will be up on the Downs, so as you say, a biggish climb to get up there and then mostly undulating stuff would be my guess.

Take the bike with gears if your in doubt about the SS fitness and your own. They are very well organized, I did a few a year or 2 back and always enjoyed them.

Thanks for the info.

I was gonna try and make the ride last night, but just didn't have time in the end, and now to my surprise i have time to ride tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚ hence the bikes not being 100% ready. I will hoopefully be goning on the next one

Well my fitness is good, been commuting to work and longer ridess on the road bike, so that shouldn't be a problem.

The SS is built, just not 100% on the chain set up, where as the geared bike is (well apart from slicks) ok apart from some slightly unconvincing disk brakes (think i need new ones).

Now i guessed it will be up and onto the downs, but how many times?? I think the SS may be too undergeared once on the flat then, but be fine on the hills.

Think i may have to give the brakes a quick once over, to try and get them working slightly better, change the tyres and ride that geared bike, as will be a better compromise.
