The opening three corners of the new Parklife section - that's before it even gets to the ridge, or about 70 yards of trail - took a total of more than a week's worth of full time digging and clearing to get right over a several-month period using upwards of 15 people per dig day.

Bloody hell. And you still didn't get time to put any berms in?

Thanks to bent for the knowledgeable, mature and soundly reasoned input (as ever) with which I completely agree (how could I not?).

Less of your cheek, sunshine. ๐Ÿ˜€

Actually, that applies to Scotty as well. The first three corners are bermed; we recut them several times to get them just right (or wrong, if you have differing opinions. I know, I know....). The off camber turns, including turn 4, will be worked on this winter. It's a long old job.

Which leads me to lcj's point. If we ask loads of people to turn up just to move brush - a ten minute job - we'd be just pissing them off. I'd like to think being invited on a build day would be a bit more. For example, the chance to learn something about gradient reversals. Or play with power tools. We might have the manpower, but we'd rather the manpower enjoyed themselves, rather than got 'used' - we're not paying 'em, and it would be much better if they actually wanted to come back.

Hey ho.

Can we all go and ride bikes now, please?

I'm certainly going to, as my help isn't needed for maintenance ๐Ÿ™‚

progression is inevitable, believe most of good trails were originally dug in less than agreed fashion. OP and some of others need to be more diplomatic and reach out in other ways.

so who's bike is it on the Hurtwood website?

BKB had improved in August when I had my XC hat/bike on but some of the other trails have Mway lines so not sure sustainable is always the right term?

Porc is up for sale and the quotes you made Gary are years old

they need to sort out their website. the new one is 'under construction'.
there was a round of the NPS 4x there last month so it appears it is still open to the public (unless they just open it on race days)

Having a family / individual / organisation own a massive tract of land like that is a complete load of b0ll0cks anyway, esp somewhere as populated as the south east.

I think them allowing access especially to ride (and the hassle that comes with it) is beautiful. Full stop.
