Probably the same reason that half the field pulled out and the reace was shortened - weather was horrendous.
It wasn't just him, about 50-60 riders pulled out on the final day at various points cos it was unbelievably wet and quite dangerous.
No point crashing and breaking yourself in the last race of the season.
No generally i.e. UK. Lance &co had nothing to gain by finishing-so they didnt bother
After all the breaks from wannabe's and Russ Downing following every one of them, I was delighted to see him take it on from the front. He had the strength and was confident enough in his ability to take go for it.........dropping all the saxobank riders etc on the climb 🙂
