Well, didn't we pick the right spot to watch the tour go past. Really wasn't expecting a four man breakaway to start 200m before the roundabout we were watching from [/smug]

They're going to cut the top off Ventoux, Chaletrenard upwards.

Sorry, Leffeboy. Prudhomme was making the announcement next to Froome on the telly as I was tapping that last message.
It's typical July weather down here; sun splitting the rocks and temperature in the high 30's until the tour gets within a day's ride. That's when the wind starts up. No bloody fireworks tonight in the village either ๐Ÿ™

interesting, and the right move knowing Ventoux. Not good for Quintana though, basically makes Froome's job 6km easier!

140kph winds up the top apparently ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Cracking stage today. Do wonder about the amount of energy Froome is expending on a few seconds here and there, but it's great fun to watch. Reckon a shortened Ventoux is in Froome's favour too.

yep. And is it my imagination or is Froomes french getting better? He's doing a brilliant job of getting the French press to like him

He's definitely made progress. French tv love foreign riders who can string more than a sentence together.

@Jamby, still it doesn't make up for cancelled fireworks :'(

In case you missed it on the highlights, this is what 120kph winds atop the Ventoux looked like during a [s]bike ride[/s] sportive in 2013.

Oakley Frosgkin, in Retina Burn, I think. Or possibly something from the new Green Collection.

Ooooh, I had a bit of a realman moment when I was watching that on replay - immense, and very well spotted by Froome; you prob get about half a second to get on that little ****er's wheel when he puts his foot in

(I don't suppose Sagan could've tapped him up in advance ?)

I'm assuming it was sagan that did the bunnyhop onto the pavement section that was in the highlights. Good going at that speed.

Great finish, shame Cav had a mechanical. Is he still planning on going all the way to Paris?

@David even French TV doesn't cover the start ! Carcassone on a TdF day must be fun, lunch and an afternoon in a bar watching on TV ?

Does anyone know why? We were hoping to catch the inlaws who are some way out of Carcasssonne (Caune Minervois) but it started after that. On Tuesday's stage it meant there was no coverage of the first climb and some crashes.
