[Closed] Tougher mount for my Exposure Joystick/Axis light....

I like my Axis light from Exposure, but i don't like the mount.

It's plasticy and a bit 'low-fi'. Now, after contact with a low hanging branch, it's snapped in half. This was not a big surprise.

The replacement cost of £20 smacks of extorsion, so i'm not keen to give them more cash for a poorly thought out mount. Anyone found and used another option, which would mount the light securely?

I assume you mean the helmet mount? Just think how your neck would feel now if it hadn't snapped.....

yes, that wasn't clear... i did mean the helmet mount.

Now, i have bashed helmet lights many times in the past and even broken other brands versions, but not nearly as easily as the little plastic one from Exposure. So, i don't expect to have it permanently bonded to the helmet because, as you mention, this might be a potential injury point.

But, its a bit shit anyway and overpriced. so i wanted to find another option. Although while searching, i think i found that i might be able to adapt the 'Go-Pro' mount adaptor to another stronger attachment plate from another light. It's only £9 not £21 too.

have USE changed their light bracket this year ?

Certainly used to be one of the best.

With a nice designed ball socket that would come apart on impact leaving a low profile mount rather than causing a pivot moment on your neck.

The light would be retained by the lanyard you thread through your helmet and you could just snap the ball back into place after you regained composure.

I've never had Exposure lights before this year, so don't know about previous designs.

So exactly what is that Jambo? the top bit from the Exposure one, with a GoPro mount for your specific lid?

The problem is, mine has snapped right where the ball/socket area is. So, If i'm gonna buy a new exposure mount for the top bit, i may as well use the whole thing.

I'm gonna look and see if my Cateye mount will accept the GoPro adaptor that has the twin 'fin' mounts with a central bolt to rotate on.

Dunno if they have changed, had Exposure lights on their helmet mounts for about 7 years now & never broken one. They do a GoPro Mount, maybe try that?

yup. giro montaro comes with a quick release gopro mount. took the gopro bit out, lost the bottom part of the exposure mount, found a suitable size washer and attached them together. clips on/off my helmet in seconds.

Conversely, I really like their mounts, use them on two different helmets. Annoyingly expensive though
