for a mate, who is a fairly big lad.

snaps spokes on his rear wheel with alarming frequency on his rear wheel, currently a hope pro hub, spokes spec unknown and a Mavis xm something 23mm.

DT Swiss rims seem frequently suggested but any other recommendations, even off the shelf, hope trail?

Presumably the hub isn’t a factor in all this.

Maybe go for some heavy duty spokes and a decent strong rim. A few of the DT Swiss enduro ones are meant to be good (I’ve got some cheaper E1900 wheels and they’re still going strong after I’ve bashed them for a year and a bit with no attention paid to them).

Could get a wheelset custom built with a decent DT Swiss rim and hope hubs for reliability perhaps? I fancy doing that myself at some point - although I find some of th hope hubs too loud on the freewheel so I’m watching the new superstar uk made hubs with interest.
