[Closed] Tortec Velocity rack clearance?

Hi,

Is here anyone using a Tortec Velocity rack?
I wonder about its clearance with mudguards. I have 700x28c wheels, and 40mm wide mudguards. Would that fit (not sure about the mudguards), or should I rather go for the wider hybrid rack?

General impressions and experiences are also welcome. ๐Ÿ™‚

i've got one.

Its a nice rack, very solid, more so that a larger heavier 'Lifeline' one i used to use from Wiggle. Only problem was one of the seat stay mounts fouls the brake, so i'm only using one. Rack seems to cope fine.

I'm using 23mm tyres and narrow mudguards and clearance is quite tight. i'd suggest the larger rack might be better. You might squeeze the guards under the narrower one though.

I've got a topeak super tourist DX rack, takes 2 ortlieb 25litre panniers stuffed with stuff, fitted in a few minutes, fitted over 700x32 + SKS chromoplastics with room to spare.

It also weighs naff all as far as I can tell.

Just googled "Tortec Velocity rack "

Is the slimline shape a solution to a problem that doesn't exist?

Its cheaper, lighter, and does exactly the same job as the 'super tourist DX rack'.

keeps the panniers further inboard too, which helps when you're going into a headwind and theres not much in the panniers.

Fair enough, I find the flat plate bit quite usefull as a small table for fixing/sorting/resting stuff on.

Sam, Any update on the peugeot? Don't suppose you know what spacing the frame is for the rear wheels do you?

Thanks, this is great help. I will probably buy the wider to be on the safe side.
The reason for the slim design for me its aesthetic value (will be on this bike: http://picasaweb.google.com/zaqrack/FixiMarSarvedovel#5482192198707206098), and that most of the time I will only use one pannier, half-loaded.

in all honesty, i only got it because it looked nicer when the panniers aren't on too!

mines on a light-ish road bike that gets used quite a lot without the panniers.
