Hi Guys and girls.ย

Be out of the scene for a few yrs and making a come back this summer.ย

Getting back riding after injuries and life getting in the way.ย  I've said it a couple of times and failed to get going again so me and a pal are going to book something in for early September.ย

We are going to go up to Torridon area to hit the big mountain... booking it in should get me going hopefully.

ย

The question I'd like to ask has anyone any experience for where to stay in the area. Not much apart for a few villages so thought someone may know of a decent base for a few days.

TIA

Last time I was up, I stayed at the Kinlochewe hotel. Comfy, clean rooms and a nice restaurant and bar. Not much else in village but wee shop at petrol station was good for snacks.ย

I have stayed at the kinlochewe hotel too. Nice enough and the landlord was cool.ย

Handy for doing the loch en fada loop from the door.ย

Have also stayed in a random house in Gairloch, handy for the tollie path loop from the door.ย

Also stayed at the Ledgowan hotel. Not really near any riding.ย

Not stayed at the youth hostel but the location is great for the main event and if you fancy torridon forest or loch damh from the door.ย

Youth hostel all the way. Great facilities for storing and prepping food, friendly staff and a nice vibe. Attracts a diverse crowd - lots of overseas tourists and various outdoorsy tribes. You can book a private room, or bunk down with the masses. Has bike storage, but it's not what you'd call super-secure. Nice selection of local beers in the fridge at reception.

+1 for the syha, if you can get in, it books up months in advance, especially in the summer!

Torridon Inn if you can afford it (it was on that best hotels in the world with that Monica something or other - on the telly)

The bar does amazing burgers, perfect with a pint when you finish the loop!

Yeah, that bar (open to guests) is amazing. Fill up there post ride before retiring to your peasants accommodation (camp site for me). ย
